Dòchas
Gerald Blackburn
*He appears at the beginning, right in the first chapter. He and Sonja have a date and he realizes, as is his job as Maor-Rìgh, that she is a member of Sgiathalaich due to the ring Sonja's mother gave her. He did not know what he was until his coming of age. It is his job to stop members of the other two societies from becoming fully what they are.
Dorian Blackburn
*Gerald's grandfather. In WWII, he was a pilot (a metaphor for his lack of wings but his desire to fly), which is how he met his wife. It also got him away from home and allowed him to experience more of life, which in his case wasn't necessarily a good thing. He is head of the Dòchas council. His years of living have made him a rigid, tough old man.
Mabelle (Guay) Blackburn
*Gerald's grandmother. She was an ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary), a branch of the RAF. She met Dorian on one of her deliveries and they stayed in touch through out the war. Unlike her husband, getting away from home and seeing the world was good for Mabelle. It made her wise, and also a very good, kind-hearted person.
