Also, I'm two-thirds of the way through chapter 14, but a visit from my lovely boyfriend halted that. I'll hopefully finish that sometime this week. I'll keep you posted!!

So, on today's agenda: Start chapter 14. Well, its a start, right??
Just looking through my brainstorming notes and I have between 7 and 8 chapters left to write, if all goes to plan. I think the final number is going to be 22, but i'm not entirely sure. There might be too much information in one chapter that might spill over into another but we'll just have to see how it goes, really. I may end up with upwards of 24, which would be find with me. Each chapter is between 7 and 12 pages long, typed in a microsoft word format; I'm up to 104 pages just now. I'm guessing by the end, my manuscript (I think that's what its called before its published) will be 200 pages long if not more. I'm going to have to put a lot of credit on my uni account to be able to print it out!! (that was a joke, by the way). 2/3 of the way through...wow. I have come so far not only in the past year but in the past 6 months. Writing this has become such a major part of my life. I think about it all the time, trying to come up with new ideas, ways of bettering the story line and the characters, better dialogues, etc. I'm sure every writer does this. You can't help but to be engrossed in your work. At first I thought it was nerdy and silly to be writing, but I look at all the support and interest I have from my friends and family and it has really driven me to believe not only in myself, but in my book as well. Enough sappiness, I need to get my writing on. I'll keep you all posted with my progress. I hope to get halfway through today, and also put up an excerpt from chapter 7 (which I may do first). Also, since the page is getting lengthy, I'm going to add a sub-tab to the Excerpts page with chapters 7-14, then 14 to whatever is the end. Sound good? Great! -EJG Well hello there, I have posted the chapter 6 excerpt. Feel free to have a read and let me know what you think!
I have also finished chapter 13, and upon rereading I have decided to sack starting chapter 14 tonight. I don't want to rush it. So, I'm going to take tonight off, I have work tomorrow, then jump back into it on Wednesday. Time to curl up with a freshly baked blueberry muffin and watch a film! Night, all! -EJG So, I have read over chapter 5 and put the excerpt on the Excerpts page.
Today is a typical Scottish day, with lots of cold rain. As I worked two incredibly difficult shifts the past 2 days, I'm going to spend the rest of today relaxing and working on chapter 13. Hopefully, since its half way done, I can not only finish it, but maybe start chapter 14 as well. We'll see what my mental capacity has to say about that today. Keep your eyes peeled for updates as soon as I have any! -EJG Chapter 4's excerpt is now up for your reading pleasure!! Feed back is much apprecaited!
-EJG So, at my lovely Sonja's ingenious suggestion, I have decided to make the Excerpts their own tab, as I feel they are far too important to be listed under another tab. I had been toying with the idea before, but with my esteemed colleagues suggestion, it only made sense to go ahead with it. Up to chapter 3 can be viewed under the Excerpts tab, and I would like to add chapter 4 before I head off to earn the bread this evening.
I have been thinking and dreaming of my book almost every day, and it breaks my heart that I can't dedicate more time to it. I have fallen in love with my characters, the easy flow of progress, and writing in itself. I think what spurned this sudden spark was stumbling upon a site dedicated to self publishing. Though I would like to find and agent of some kind, I would be happy to publish on my own to start. I will have to do more research into this as I want this to succeed; it would be a dream come true. But, on the other hand, self publishing means I, and Sonja, could do things our way, from the marketing to the sale of each book. We'll have to think about it. If anyone has any suggestions on the best way to become a published author, and be successful (I know its a tough gig, but I have faith in my writing) I would be much obliged for that information. Also, I have removed the forum page. It seemed pretty useless as it has been up for nearly a month and has received no feedback. Like Sonja said, maybe we'll have to wait until we're famous! Right, enough from me, keep your eye out for chapter 4 in a bit. -EJG Hello all,
Apparently I had 61 visitors on 31st of July so let's keep the numbers up! Also, I know I said it all the time but feed back would be much appreciated, especially from those of you who have maybe been following the blog and the site since the beginning. Anyway, enough ranting, I have added excerpts from both chapter 2 and 3 to the excerpt section under the "Fledgling" tab. I will continue to add these until I'm caught up, as often as possible. I think these three will be a good start, though. This is going to be a short entry seeing as its 3am and I definitely need sleep! So, check out my new stuff and I hope to hear from you, mystery viewers! -EJG |
