Okay so, the official semester hasn't begun yet but I'm already getting cracking on into my dissertation. So far I've read 6 books, with 6 books left to go. I then have to start the process of writing the actual dissertation which is 10,000 words. After that is the personal statement which is 5,000 words. My dissertation topic is Scottish myth and legend (shock). My main character's name is Alba, which is an old name for Scotland itself. I'm not sure where her adventures will take her or who she will meet but I intend to break the piece up into 4 chapters at a length of 2,500 words each. I will incorporate as much as I can of what I've read, but I don't want to just regurgitate it, I want to make this my own. I highly suggest anyone interested in antiquities and old stories, and folklore of course, to read up on Scottish myth and legend. It is incredibly interesting and has links to things of the modern era. There have been so many times that I've been reading and said to myself "wow! That makes sense!" Anyway, I'm debating whether or not to post my progress? I'm not sure if that's even allowed? I'll do some research and if I don't post it right away I will for sure post it when I'm done. This will be a bit different for me because its structured, but not at the same time. Weird! Well, I'm off to do some more reading and hopefully give Alba a spirit and a character!
