Unfortunately, my loyal followers, the next week or so is really going to put a damper on my writing as I've got 2 more essays to do before December 13. I will be returning to the states December 14, where I will be until January 6 (or that's the plan right now). So, after all this uni work is done I will definitely jump back on the writing band wagon. Good luck to everyone who has work and exams!

So, I'm set up in the library once again. This seems to be my new thing. I think I'll be doing this every Sunday; not only do i get a lot done, but it gets me out of my room as well.
I'm rereading chapter 7 right now, writing out my synopsis and character list, then maybe starting chapter 8. I've been absolutely exhausted this past week as my sleeping pattern has become so erratic. Nothing very interesting today but we'll see what I can get done. Just as a little aside, I've made a new friend over the past couple weeks, her name is Emma; just though that was kind of funny and ironic. One Love. -EJG So, I have worked on chapter 7 for a total of almost 7 hours; apparently 7 is my number today! I think I have the meat of it down, there is just some stuff I want to add at the end. After 7 hours of writing, though, my butt hurts from sitting and my eyes are crossing from looking at tiny letters on this screen. I sent off my "products of labor" to my colleague, Sonja Bella. Hopefully I've done well, we'll see what she has to say! I think this is probably my best chapter yet and I'm looking forward to my writing getting stronger and stronger as time goes on. Tomorrow is another day, so we shall see what it brings.
-EJG Right, so chapter 7 is going to be a killer. There are so many things and characters that need to go into this that I'm not even quite sure where to start. I guess the best thing to do would be to see where I came from, cause that really is the only way to know where I'm going, much like life I suppose. Where I'm sitting in the library this time isn't as pretty as where I was last time for chapter 6, in fact I have a wall to my left and I'm in my own little cubical so I'm hoping maybe this will make it easier to throw myself into Gunnar's character. For those of you who have been following this process, Gunnar is finally making his reappearance so hopefully I can do him justice. 1...2...3...go!
-EJG Well, chapter 6 was surprisingly easy to write. It has the perspectives of Matt, Sonja, and even a little bit of Gerry all thrown in there. Its the shortest chapter thus far, but I think it does it's job. We see Matt's emotional side, Sonja's saucy side, and Gerry's mysterious side. Chapter 8 is the next time we'll see these characters, but now its Gunnar's turn to make a reappearance. I want this chapter (chapter 7) to be really good so I'm debating whether to start it and work for an hour before going back to my dorm for dinner, as I'm starved, or let it be and not push it too much with writing today. Decisions decisions...
-EJG I am currently sitting at my university's brand new library looking out the window, watching the tiny waves of the loch lap against the mucky shores, the swans swimming by, and the leafless trees bordering the whole thing; I feel like such a writer! I came to start my essay, but seeing as it's not due until December 6, I can't seem to find the motivation to do it. Thus, chapter 6, you will begin!
As a side note, I am immensely proud of my fellow adventurer, the real Sonja, as she is now on chapter 7!! Keep up the good work, love! I can't wait to see what happens next! -EJG So, I'm sitting down with a giant mug of Earl Grey ready to start chapter 6. I'm going to do what I always do after finishing a chapter and write out the synopsis so I can remember what happens chapter to chapter. I also make a list of the characters and what their parts are through out the chapter. This is a really good organization tool and it makes the way I'm writing this so much easier. I'm somewhat alternating between chapters (i.e. chapter 1 was about Sonja, whereas chapter 2 was about Gunnar). Chapter 6 is the first time I'll have not alternated so hopefully it doesn't throw it off too much.
I am always waiting not to patiently for my real Sonja's chapter 6!! Chapter 5 was a struggle for us both but we made it through and now we're continuing our creative journey together!! Love you girl! Also, I would like to thank all the veteran's for their sacrifices and successes. America, Europe, the whole of the world would not be the place it is today without your dedication and commitment to the cause, whether it be freedom or democracy or peace. So, here is my salute to you! Thank you so much! You make me proud to be American! -EJG Well, several weeks later, and chapter 5 is finally done! I'm not sure why this chapter was so hard to write, I think it was because of all the dialogue. Dialogue is so hard to make believable to I think that's why I struggled so much. It's one of those chapters that not a lot happens but it needs to be there for the next chapters to follow, if that makes sense. I also decided to split it into two chapters so chapter 6 will be commencing soon and will hopefully be a more interesting continuation of chapter 5. I'm really looking forward to what was supposed to be chapter 6, but is now 7, which is Gunnar's fate from chapter 2. Whew! I'm very pleased with myself! 3 hours of work well spent.
In other news, the Stirling Sprints were yesterday; this is an event held every year here at University of Stirling. I was part of two relays, both of which made it to finals, one of which we medaled in. I also competed in an individual event which I got a best time in. Great job Stirling Uni!. Stay tuned for more! -EJG Hey Fans!
So I have this afternoon free until I have to go to swim training tonight at half 8 so I figured I would sit down and try to crank out some more writing. I think I got a solid page or so done last time so hopefully I'm a bit more productive this time around. I'm working on chapter 5 which has a lot of dialogue so I'm struggling a little to make it interesting. There is a lot going on in this chapter, so I may have to split it into two but I haven't made the decision yet; we'll see how long it gets. Well, here goes nothing! -EJG |
